After an extensive three-year renovation,The Francis House, a small luxury inn in Calistoga, California, opened its doors this year. Built in 1886, the Francis House is the only stone building in Napa County with authentic French Second Empire architecture. Proprietors Dina and Richard Dwyer decided to keep the European flair when they restored and redesigned the place as an exclusive five-room luxury inn. The ground level consists of a reception area with original interior stone walls complemented by European oak plank floors, aGaggenau-equipped kitchen, a salon highlighted by a Carrara marble fireplace mantle, and an adjoining dining area that opens to the pool, which boasts two French limestone fountains. Elegant landscaping around The Francis House includes citrus trees, espaliered fruit trees, rosemary bushes, and gravel pathways.
