The original Francis House had a second set of gutters on the upper part of the roof. We are recreating this today using metal that will be painted black that will blend in with the custom wooden shingles on the Mansard Roof.
The age of the Wood speaks volumes. They are like wrinkles in a woman’s face: with a history and a story.

Looking at mature old olive trees at Napa Valley Wine Reserve and thinking if this is the right tree for the Francis House facade.
Two weeks ago we posted a picture of our steel fabricator installing the framework for the exterior facade balconies. Today we came to visit his workshop where our balcony design has been meticulously brought to life !
Bertram-Blondina Stair Company did the preliminary work on the stairs today. It would be swell to get to the 2nd and 3rd floors in a civilized manner: am tired of climbing the ladder !
The utility building is in the works. Getting the footers and piers ready for pouring.
Meanwhile, more grouting work is being done on the exterior stone walls.
